M. Butterfly Blog 1
Todays blog is about a quote in M. Butterfly, because Marylyn said we had to look for a line and talk about it. In act 1, Gallimard and Song are in Song’s appartment and they are talking for the first time in a while because Gallimard was ignoring Song. Gallimard is doing this to get Song to confesse “his” love for him.In M. Butterfly by David Henry Hwang, Song says to Gallimard, “i’ll do my best to make you happy. Turn off the lights.” During this scene, Gallimard is trying to have sex with Song but what Gallimard doesnt know is that Song is really a guy so Song constantly tries to avoid having sex with Gallimard. Song ends up giving Gallimard some kind of ancient oral pleasure. Song really tries to do “his” job which is to get information about Gallimard. This is why Song is willing to give another guy pleasure. I chose this line because it is very important to know that Song is trying to hide “his” identity. Also because i find it funny that its two guys giving each other pleasure but only one know’s that their both guys.
